New Canopy Hotel Opens in Tri-State Area

Close to Manhattan, the new property is located in Jersey City’s art and entertainment district.

The first Canopy hotel in the New York Metropolitan area has opened in Jersey City, NJ. The 211-room Canopy by Hilton Jersey City Arts District has 1,400 square feet of meeting space, and easy access to Manhattan.

Small groups will find two studios, a terrace garden for outdoor meetings, a 1,400-square-foot gallery that can be used to host presentations,  and the “Workshop” for intimate meetings of up to 12. In addition, the 2,000-square-foot Canopy Central lobby event room can host receptions.

Rooms, including 13 suites, allow guests to adjust lighting, AC, and TV remote control on their smartphones to reduce contact with shared surfaces. Each room features rotating artwork from local artists, and permanent limited-edition silkscreen prints by Gary Lichtenstein. The property is also home to Canopy Central Art Studios, where guests can watch local artists at work on paintings, photography, and sculpture, which will then be showcased in the hotel’s public areas.

Guests with early-morning or late-night flights at Newark Liberty International Airport, 11 miles away, have access to the hotel’s transfer lounge with luggage lockers and changing rooms. Other amenities include the Canopy Central Bar & Bistro, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

The property is centrally located in Jersey City steps from the Grove Street PATH Train and access to downtown Manhattan in 10 minutes. Complimentary bikes are available to explore the neighborhood, part of the Mural Arts Program which has turned much of Jersey City into an outdoor art gallery.
