THE LATEST:
  • In April, the company announced Maritz Global Events as the new name for the parent company to which Maritz Travel and Experient report.
  • Maritz has taken a notable stance on human trafficking issues in the past year, formalizing its employee training for recognizing and reporting instances of human trafficking and incorporating language into its agreements with industry suppliers and partners to help combat the crime throughout the world.
  • President David Peckinpaugh has been honored with a number of industry accolades over the past year, including a RISE Award for Meetings Industry Leadership from Meeting Professionals International, the Unity Award from the Joint Meetings Industry Council, and Advocate of the Year from the Incentive Travel Council.
  • Experient has been out in front on the alternative acc ommodations trend. A collaboration last September with Airbnb provides clients with new lodging options, especially in destinations with a lack of hotel availability. In another Experient move, the division is now offering à la carte association management services through a partnership with Talley Management Group.
  • In other news, the company has finalized its Maritz Global Meetings Network - 25 global partners with services in more than 60 countries — and last summer, Christie Hicks, senior vice president of sales for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, joined the company's board of directors.
