Notes from the Road: ECEF

I'm about to leave for the day's sessions at the Exhibition and Convention Executives Forum in Washington, D.C., but I wanted to check in first with a few notes from the road.

First, the more I fly Jet Blue, the more I love that airline. Had another first-rate experience with them yesterday.

Receptions are funny things. Last night, I went to the ECEF opening reception here at the Renaissance D.C., thinking I wouldn't know a soul. The first guy I ran into used to work with a publisher I worked for before I came to The Meetings Group magazines. We had a great talk. Then I ran into a guy who I had heard speak at the International Association of Exhibitions and Events' Expo Expo show last fall who I had wanted to follow up with. Then I ran into a fellow journalist I know from other events.

So there I was, expecting to feel all awkward because I didn't know anyone, and instead had a terrific time. Go figure.
