Kudos to PCMA's Achievement Award winners

The following folks will be honored with PCMA 2005 Achievement Awards at the annual meeting next month (from the press release):


    The PCMA Distinguished Member Award (Formerly the Distinguished Service Award) goes to Robert J. Donovan, Vice President, Meetings and Travel Services, American Hospital Association. This award recognizes overall meetings industry achievements and contributions to PCMA. Donovan has been a PCMA member for 22 years. He is a past president of PCMA and served on its board from 1990 –1995. He also served as chairman of the PCMA Education Foundation Board of Trustees.


    The PCMA Educator of the Year Award goes to Brian Miller, Assistant Professor, Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, University of Delaware. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of meetings industry education. Miller has been a PCMA member for 3 years and has pushed his students to do their very best with PCMA and has given much of his own time to bring students to meetings. Dr. Miller has presented his research at hospitality industry conferences in the United States and internationally.


    The PCMA Distinguished Convention Service Manager Award goes to Philomena Petro, CMP, Vice President, Convention Services, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of convention services. Petro has been a PCMA member for 8 years and has also served as president for the Association for Convention Operations Management.


    The PCMA Outstanding Service to a Chapter Award goes to Bob Hancock, Director of National Accounts, Holiday Inn Atlanta Downtown, PCMA Southeast Chapter. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to a PCMA Chapter. Hancock has been a PCMA member for 19 years and has served as Student Faculty Advisor, Membership Advisor, Membership Chair, Program Committee Chair, Treasurer and President for the Southeast Chapter.


    The PCMA Spirit Award is presented to two organizations that have demonstrated strong enthusiasm while providing excellent service to the meetings industry. The winners are the Hilton San Francisco and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
