Balancing content and adult ed needs

Writer, speaker, and consultant Jeffrey Caufaude has interesting things to say about balancing content and adult learning needs. Among his main points:

The longer the session, the less lecture it should include.

The longer the presentation (lecture or otherwise), the greater the clarity of content it needs to contain.

The greater the amount of content, the more time that needs to be allocated for participant reflections and connections.

If your speakers don't know this, tell them. Please. Your participants will thank you--and more importantly, they'll actually learn more, retain more of what they learn, and possibly even change the way they work based on what they learned.
