Hire Help

Look ahead and hire out things like laundry, yard work, errands, or house cleaning, especially if you have a busy season lasting a month or longer.

Know What's Coming
Thinkstock

If you have kids, look at the school calendar during your busy time and be sure you’re aware of any random days off or must-attend programs that overlap.

Create Simple Routines

Do you drive to work? Pick a time and place to fill your gas tank every weekend; make it a habit so you don’t have to think about it.

Set Family Expectations

Call mom or dad. If you've got elderly parents, have a conversation with them before your busy season hits. Let them know your schedule and when they might expect another call from you.

Be Well—and Consistent
Thinkstock

Make a plan to take care of yourself. Set your exercise habits now and maintain them (even if it’s just a 10-minute walk at lunch). Plan ahead for bringing healthy snacks to work. Get enough sleep.

Streamline Socializing
Thinkstock

Remove the “extras” from your schedule. During your hectic work week(s), ignore social media as much as possible and let your friends at book club know that you’ll have to catch up with them next month.
