Mary Anne Whittle, CMP, Sales Support—Western Commercial Unit & National Accounts, Valent U.S.A. Corporation:
I am spending my holiday in Disneyland with my husband this September. This is our happy place and also inspires me with creative ideas for future meetings and events. This picture is from a visit earlier this year, pre-60th Anniversary Celebration.
Alison Hall, Editor, MeetingsNet:
Sometimes we’re lucky enough to meet fellow travelers like these on the road to our little log cabin on a lake in Greenville, Me. It’s a five-hour drive from Boston, so once we get there, we really feel we are “away.” (Of course, we did still install Wi-Fi!) This dirt road is the home stretch.
Kevin Iwamoto, GLP, GTP, vice president of industry strategy, Lanyon, is looking forward to some island time:
No holiday in August for me—it’s always September! When I do go it will be to Hawaii.
This year, I vacationed in Machu Picchu, one of the most fantastic places I have been, as well as the Grand Tetons.
Holly Duckworth, CAE, CMP, CEO of Leadership Solutions International, enjoying a beach bonfire:
Went home to Oregon for a dear friend's wedding in June. There's nothing like the joy found in the fertile Pacific Northwest.
Nancy Zavada, founder and principal, MeetGreen, getting back to nature:
We take our vacation in September and enjoy the quiet on the Oregon Coast. With so much time spent on planes and in hotels, my perfect vacation is spent at the beach and hiking in coastal forests, getting back in touch with nature. I took this photo on one of my walks.
Ann C. Lichti, CHCP, director of accreditation and compliance for Physicians’ Education Resource®, LLC, on the far side of the world:
I took my holiday early this year—in January. Technically, it was summer ... in Australia! I first went to Melbourne to attend the Australian Open, which completed my fan Grand Slam (attendance at all four major tennis tournaments). Next was a drive along Great Ocean Road to see the 12 Apostles (pictured). The following week, I hopped a plane to Cairns where I took a day trip snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, and then concluded my holiday after flying down to Sydney to visit long-time friends.
David DuBois, president and CEO of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), and proud new puppy owner:
My wife Nancy and I spent a great vacation week at Rosemary Beach, Fla. The white sand and aqua blue water were perfect for us as we entertained our six-month-old golden puppy Jackson.
Thomas Sullivan, president and founder of Rockpointe Corporation, with his family in Colorado:
This year we took the family to the mountains of Colorado, where we spent time mountain biking, hiking, fossil hunting, white-water rafting, and zip lining. Everyone had a great time. We also went to the beach a few times to get our feet wet and accidentally swam with sharks.
David Peckinpaugh, CMP, president, Maritz Travel Company, learning while unwinding in Western New York:
For my entire life, I've spent time each summer at my own personal paradise/oasis retreat, the Chautauqua Institution, which is located in Western New York. That tradition has continued with my own family as we travel to Chautauqua each July. It's always a time to reconnect with old friends, spend quality family time, and also add in some learning from the incredible programming that exists there each summer.
Luann Edwards, CMP, CMM, the social media strategist at a global commercial property insurance company, is looking forward to some time in Mexico's Riviera Maya:
I haven’t been on holiday yet, but we are planning to visit Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita in August.
R. Brian Phillips, marketing manager, Young Life Colorado Camps, finds adventure close to home:
Our staycation here in Colorado included taking friends down the Arkansas River near Buena Vista, Colo.
