Seattle’s New Hyatt Regency Opens Next to Center Expansion Site

Seattle is making more meeting-industry news just four months after breaking ground on an expansion of the Washington State Convention Center. This week, the 45-story, 1,260-room Hyatt Regency Seattle opened for business, taking over the title of the Pacific Northwest’s largest hotel. (Sheraton Seattle is a close second.)

Two blocks away from the convention center and adjacent to The Summit, the center’s planned expansion building slated to open in spring 2022, the Hyatt Regency has 103,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Planners can select among meeting spaces named after Washington state’s bodies of water, including two 19,000-square-foot ballrooms (Columbia and Regency), two junior ballrooms (Elwhat and Quinault), 45 meeting rooms, and a boardroom (Deschutes).

Guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, 65-inch TVs, and black-and-white images by local photographers. On-site dining options include Daniel’s Broiler, an upscale steakhouse; Andare, a fast-casual Italian-style trattoria; and a grab-and-go café with seating. The property has incorporated sustainable elements into its overall design and guest amenities, and is targeting LEED Gold Certification, the second-highest green-building rating, for 2019.
