Classic Center in Athens, Ga., Expands

Facility doubles the number of attendees it can accommodate, to 6,000

The Classic Center in Athens, Ga., opened a $24 million expansion in late February. The new 8,000-square-foot atrium and the expanded 56,000-square-foot exhibit hall will allow the downtown convention center to host groups as large as 6,000 people, double the size that was previously possible. Classic Center also includes a 2,100-seat theater and 29 breakout rooms. The city’s seven downtown hotels offer more than 1,500 hotel rooms, including the adjacent 185-room Hilton Garden Inn
