On April 1, Bermuda's first new resort in 37 years, Tucker's Point Hotel & Spa, opened in Tucker's Town. The property is part of the Tucker's Point Club, a collection of luxury residences, and offers 88 rooms and suites as well as ample meeting space. Guest rooms are decorated with classic British-style furnishings and artwork but feature modern amenities like complimentary Wi-Fi and flat-panel televisions.
The property has a 12,000-square-foot spa with 10 treatment rooms, a 1,900-square-foot fitness center, and a croquet lawn. Groups have a private dining option in the Wine Room at the hotel's Point Restaurant. A 5,000-square-foot conference center provides multiple meeting rooms, a business center, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout, and an IT support staff.
Guests of the resort also enjoy access to all Tucker's Point Club facilities, including an 18-hole championship golf course, a pro shop, pools, restaurants, and tennis courts. The resort offers transportation to and from the Bermuda International Airport, located just 15 minutes away.
Ojai Valley Inn & Spa
The News: A two-year, $90 million renovation updated the entire property.
Specs: 308 guest rooms; 20,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space, including a 16,000-square-foot conference center with high-speed wireless Internet access and two ballrooms; an 18-hole championship golf course; a tennis center; three pools; the 31,000-square-foot Spa Ojai, with 28 treatment rooms; and four restaurants
Extra: The 80-year old resort is set on 220 rolling acres 35 miles south of Santa Barbara.
Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa
The News: The property completed a $60 million renovation in September, and opened a new spa in May.
Specs: Renovations included all 550 guest rooms and suites, the President's house (an on-site, private, four-bedroom house), lobby, restaurant, and lounge.
Sè San Diego
The News: This new property opened in December 2008.
Specs: 184 guest rooms; more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including a two-story grand ballroom; a 32-seat private screening room; a business center; the Sè Spa; a rooftop pool deck; and a restaurant and lounge
The News: The largest noncasino hotel under construction in the United States is set to open in September.
Specs: 1,400 guest rooms and suites and 175,000 square feet of meeting and function space. The hotel will be connected via open-air walkway to the Orange County Convention Center.
Extra: Two pools, a “lazy river,” a running track, and a spa and fitness center
The Waldorf-Astoria Orlando
The News: The first Waldorf-Astoria outside of New York City will open in October.
Specs: The 497-room property will offer 28,000 square feet of meeting space, a Rees Jones-designed golf course, a pool, Spa by Guerlain, and multiple restaurants.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
The News: The new, all-inclusive property completed a soft opening in January 2009; additional facilities will open throughout 2009, including, in October, an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.
Specs: The resort has 1,791 guest rooms, a convention center with more than 60,000 square feet of meeting space, a spa, 13 pools, a “lazy river,” 11 restaurants, seven bars, a theater and a nightclub, and a 45,000-square-foot casino.
At Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., James Gelfand had been named director of sales. He was formerly vice president of sales, marketing, and revenue development at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
The Resort at the Mountain in Mount Hood, Ore., has appointed Janet Johnston as director of sales. Previously, she served as director of sales for the Salishan Spa & Golf Resort and the Courtyard by Marriott in Portland, Ore.
