CHANGING FACES Brian Jones has been appointed to the new position of vice president, national sales offices for Loews Hotels. Jones will be based in New York City and will oversee the company's national sales offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Kansas City, and Los Angeles. He was formerly director of business development for McGettigan Partners in Philadelphia.

M. Rodd Herron has been named vice president of sales development for Wyndham Hotels and Resorts in Dallas, Texas. He will oversee Wyndham's small meetings business. Herron comes to Wyndham from Starwood Hotels and Resorts, where he was vice president of global sales.

Mike Schugt has been promoted to managing director of the New York office of Hilton sales worldwide. He most recently served as director of sales and marketing at the Hilton, Atlanta.

Cunard Line Limited has named Bruce Good director of corporate communications, worldwide. He will manage global public relations activities for Weber Public Relations, headquartered in Miami, as well as the company's corporate communications department.

Patricia Beaudoux has been named the national director of sales for Booth Creek's eight nationwide ski resorts. These properties include Northstar-at-Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe, and Bear Mountain in California; Waterville Valley, Cranmore Mountain Resort, and Loon Mountain in New Hampshire; The Summit at Snoqualmie near Seattle, Wash.; and Grand Targhee in Wyoming. She comes to Booth Creek from the transportation division of GE Capital Company's western region, where she was territory sales manager.

Ann H. Walker returns to The Greenbrier, in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., as executive director of sales. Walker had been vice president, sales and marketing, at Glade Springs Resort in Beckley, W.Va.

Dan Bolognani has been selected to be director of marketing and sales for The Interlaken Inn Resort & Conference Center in Lakeville, Conn. This is a newly created position in which he will oversee advertising, marketing communications, strategic planning, and all local, regional, and national sales operations. He was previously director of guest services for the same property.

Peter Mitchell has been named director of sales and marketing for The Diplomat Resort & Country Club in Hollywood, Fla. He was formerly the national account manager for Conference Direct.

Bruce Siegel has been appointed director of sales and marketing for the Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis. He joins the Ritz-Carlton from the Radisson Plaza, the Hotel Syracuse in Syracuse, N. Y.

Andrew Pucciarelli has been named director of hotel marketing at the Holiday Inn Chicago City Centre. He has been in the hotel industry for 22 years, holding various positions in front office management.

Susan Eisenberg has been named director of hotel marketing at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza. Most recently, she was the director of sales and marketing at Holiday Inn Chicago City Centre.

Wendy Bolte has joined Shutters on the Beach and Hotel Casa del Mar in Santa Monica, Calif., as director of sales. She comes from the Wyndham hotels in West Hollywood and Los Angeles, where she was director of sales and marketing.

Lourdes M. Lopez-Aguilar has been appointed director of sales for The Doral Park Avenue Hotel in Manhattan. She comes to the property after six years with Radisson Hotels.

Melissa Inman has rejoined the Union Station--A Wyndham Grand Heritage Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., as director of sales. She was most recently the director of sales for Tutwiler--A Wyndham Grand Heritage Hotel in Birmingham, Ala. Prior to holding that position, she had been assistant director of sales for Union Station.

Barbara Anaman was named sales manager at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville, in Lisle, Ill. She will be responsible for group meetings, convention business, and the corporate meeting market segment. Her prior responsibilities were in sales at the Hilton Suites in Oak Brook, Ill.

Kimberly Kittridge has been named group sales manager for Sheraton Suites Market Center, in Dallas, Texas. She was most recently sales manager at the Doubletree Hotel at Campbell Centre in that same city.

Julie Harrington is the new Houston regional sales manager for the San Luis Resort & Conference Center in Galveston, Texas. She will oversee corporate sales for the Houston market. For the past six years, she was senior sales manager at the College Station Hilton and Conference Center in College Station, Texas.

Colbie Becker has been named business travel sales manager for Sheraton Suites Market Center in Dallas, Texas. She was previously the senior sales manager for Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn in Irving, Texas.

David Sneider has been appointed director of sales for Tempe (Ariz.) Mission Palms Hotel and Conference Center. He was formerly the national account manager of the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Conference Resort.

Debra A. Joseph has been named sales manager for the mid-Atlantic region for the South Seas Resort on Captiva Island, Fla. She comes from the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., where she was national sales manager.

David Gregory has been appointed conference services manager at Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, S.C. He has been at the property for nearly 10 years in conference services and conference sales.

Micki Mack is the new associate director of meetings and conference solutions for PlanNet in McLean, Va. She has been a conference planning manager for the past decade.

John Stine has been appointed director of sales and marketing for Titanic--The Exhibition, a 20,000-square-foot interactive exhibit at The Mercado Marketplace on International Drive in Orlando. Stine was most recently vice president of retail sales for Universal Studios Escape in Orlando.

GOING PLACES The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort in Cambridge, Md., has begun construction, scheduled for completion in December 2001. The $152 million proj-ect will include the 400-room hotel, an 18-hole championship golf course, and a 150-slip marina. Also planned are a 24,000-square-foot conference center and a 15,000-square-foot health spa.

The San Diego Marriott Suites, atop the city's historic Symphony Hall, has completely refurbished its 264 guest suites and 5,200 square feet of meeting space.

The four-star, 115-room Celebration Hotel has opened in Disney's planned community, Celebration, Fla., 20 minutes from Orlando International Airport. The hotel offers 5,000 square feet of meeting space, accommodating up to 180.

For high-end executive retreats, the secluded Marina Dunes Resort, opened in December in Marina, Calif., offers 63 one- and two-bedroom bungalows and 1,000 square feet of meeting space.

BEYOND BORDERS The Melia Panama Canal Hotel, Casino and Conference Center is set to open in March on Gatun Lake in the former Las Americas military school in the city of Colon, Panama. Located at the Caribbean mouth of the Panama Canal, the hotel will offer a casino, conference center with videoconferencing, Royal Service executive floors and nine meeting rooms that can accommodate 600 people.

Dromoland Castle opened its new Club Wing with 24 guest rooms and a lounge, capping a five-year refurbishment of the historic property in Newmarket-on-Fergus, near Shannon Airport. The property now has 100 rooms and the 12,000-square-foot Brian Borou International Center, whose main hall accommodates receptions of up to 700 guests. It also offers golf on the castle's 18-hole course, hiking, horseback riding, archery, fishing, clay-pigeon shooting, and hunting.

A sister property of Dromoland, Ashford Castle, in Ireland's County Mayo, renovated its 83 guest rooms and public space. The 13th-century castle's newly refurbished conference center can hold up to 140 for receptions.

On Location Ritz-Carlton, Naples The 463-room Ritz-Carlton, Naples (Fla.), has warmly welcomed a new, permanent guest: Tiburon. Spanish for "shark," Tiburon is the latest golf-course design by Greg Norman, the PGA's "Great White Shark." The 18-hole course (nine more holes will be added in 2001) is a five-minute drive from the Ritz, whose guests have priority tee times.

As part of the Tiburon project, a 50,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style clubhouse will open late this year, and The Ritz-Carlton, Naples Golf Lodge, a 295-room resort directly on the golf course, will open by the end of 2001. The Lodge will offer an 8,000-square-foot ballroom.

Other news at the southern Florida resort is construction of a 51,000-square-foot spa with a Rose Garden theme. The spa will feature more than 20 treatment rooms, a fitness center, a wellness center, pools, a cafe, and other amenities. Its projected opening is December.

The hotel's 40,000 square feet of meeting space include the 10,000-square-foot Pavilion, the 10,000-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Ballroom, the 3,600-square-foot Plaza Ballroom, and 12 executive meeting rooms ranging in size from 285 square feet to 1,080 square feet. --Alison Hall
