THE LATEST:
  • Strengthening its position as a industry thought leader , Carlson Wagonlit Travel released a major global research report in June—"Driving Success in Strategic Meetings Management." Among other findings, researchers learned that SMM has not reached a high level of market maturity despite its benefits, which include spend transparency, cost savings, and risk mitigation.   • To help clients with global SMM programs, CWT M&E has created new positions focused on global deployment and adoption: Kari Wendel is now senior director, global SMM strategy & solutions; Rachel Lunderborg has been named global director, solutions & analytics; and Brenda Miller is global director, pharma/life sciences vertical.
  • In other staff news, Cindy Fisher, former vice president, global sales, Americas, for Carlson Wagonlit Travel, has been named to lead the company's meetings and events business globally as vice president, CWT meetings & events.
  • The Paris-based company reports 1,666 corporate meetings and incentives out of its U.S. offices, but globally and for all markets and event types CWT Meetings & Events organized 27,000 meetings in 2015, an increase of 12 percent over 2014.
  • A new app called Meet by CWT M&E launched in June that will help planners and attendees navigate a meeting, offering meeting details, the agenda, and other features.
