Elko airport wants to oust TSA

Here's an interesting development in the ongoing air security hoo-ha: A little Nevada airport wants to replace TSA screeners with private employees.

Citing that the airport is capable of the job, Nevada's Elko Regional Airport last week became the first airport in the country to apply to return to private employees screeners. The airport currently employs 14 screeners to man 15 flights a day.

While there were no problems with the TSA screeners, Elko director Cris Jensen feels his airport can do the same job more efficiently by better matching its personnel with demand.

Other small airports are expected to follow Elko airport’s lead.

Interesting!
